I thought I would move sideways from doing dinosaurs for this one that represents myself. I really like chickens, there are lots of unusual breeds that come in different colours shapes and sizes. Birds are close relatives of dinosaurs also! The combination of the rooster and the city kind of represents Bristol where I live. It is a large city in the south west of Britain which is an area where there is lots of countryside and farm land. I guess I also did this as I was being childish and wanted to draw a giant cock (huh huh).
I am pleased with the way this has turned out. The flow and curves of the houses and roads is nice (the lower half reminds me a bit of Birmingham also). The red rooster colour scheme has worked well also - I am really into using a limited range of colours at the moment. This piece may be my last bit of digital artwork I do for a while (apart from commission work). I feel that I have got too comfortable with this way of working and want to try new things with my dinosaurs. I have a few large scale graffiti murals lined up and also want to do canvases, collage, pen ink and screenprints. |
